Hi, I’m Scott Hill, and I accept the #icebucketchallenge today on behalf of “the whole edgefactory team”, as nominated by Kim Love. Thanks Kim!
We challenge our clients and colleagues who have not yet participated to check out the ALS Association at ALSA.org, and then decide how you might support this, or your favorite charitable organizations.
But before I get soaked, let’s talk about that for just a second. The Ice Bucket Challenge has been a great windfall for ALSA, and while we applaud those who have been contributing for that worthy cause, I want to look at the phenomenon a little. Viral social media campaigns and videos have some important things in common, mainly centering on a fun, interesting and captivating hook.
This particular challenge adds a bit of social responsibility in the mix, and whether you have an affinity to ALSA, breast cancer, Alzheimer’s, or Parkinson’s research, or would rather support efforts toward solving world hunger, social injustice, the homeless problem here in America, or even your local animal shelter, this campaign has done a great service by once again shining the light on the need for everyone to take a moment and reach out to those in need.
We here at edgefactory have had the wonderful privilege of working with many great companies and organizations whose work has contributed to the health and well-being of many.
We encourage you to make a contribution of any kind to whatever organization you feel passionate about – whether it’s your money, your time, or your talent – take this opportunity to do something. If you want to learn more about the art of giving and philanthropy, we encourage you to check out our good friend Gray Keller for some insights and just really good information, and if you have an idea that can go viral and help thousands – by all means get going on it.
Well, here we go . . .
Wow – that’s cold!
Here is a list of Central Florida charities that edgefactory currently contributes to.
