OVIEDO, FL, (August 4, 2014) – Oviedo High School and edgefactory join forces in a unique education opportunity, showcasing technology and aerial photography. Student participants in the summer TV production program at Oviedo High School, will receive an up-close opportunity, experiencing the latest technology in aerial drone videography. Wednesday, August 6, 2014, shortly after sunrise, experts from edgefactory will demonstrate the capabilities and proper, safe, use of an aerial drone.
Student directors will have the opportunity to guide aerial scenes with the assistance of experienced edgefactory pilot/videographers and spotters. Using a DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter drone, paired with a GoPro, students will capture dramatic, cinema-quality footage of the Oviedo High School campus from the air. The outdoor flight is made possible by advanced GPS positioning that compensates for light wind. With a maximum horizontal speed of 22 miles/hour (10 meters/second).
Edgefactory, as well as many progressive production companies, are introducing drone technology into their creative projects. Recent advances have made drones a cost effective and creative tool in capturing aerial footage from a unique, and many times, unimagined prospective.
“We’ve all had that moment of inspiration growing up. That one experience that opened our eyes and changed our future career dreams forever” said Brian Cole, President/CEO edgefactory. “As edgefactory celebrates 15 years of being a community partner, we take pride in the opportunities to share, inspire and guide youth to careers in the Media industry. We all start some place, you never know how high someone can fly; and in the case of our aerial drone, literally!”
